Silvana Gonzalez

I am an Oceanographer and Fisheries Scientist particularly interested in understanding spatiotemporal patterns of biological communities in high latitudes.

During my PhD at the University of Washington (Seattle, USA) I worked using acoustic data from moorings and surveys to understand spatial and temporal patterns of fish and zooplankton in the Pacific Arctic and sites selected for the development of marine renewable energy projects in the west coast of the United States.

During a postdoc at NOAA (Seattle, USA) I studied the effects of warming and sea ice loss on the Pacific Arctic ecosystem in the last two decades.

Currently, I am a postdoc at IMR, working on a project that looks into the causes of marine heatwaves and the impacts of these events on marine ecosystems along the Norwegian coast and adjacent waters.
