Understanding climate
for the benefit of society

Costijn Zwart

In my research, I am interested in using water stable isotopes to better understand, and improve hydro- meteorological models. I am currently working on hydrological extremes in Scandinavia. My background is in operational meteorology and snow science. For the past 10+ years, I have worked in the geochemistry lab at James Cook University and in remote north Australia. In my PhD research I used stable isotopes in modern day rainfall and sediment cores to reconstruct and interpret environmental change and worked on stable isotopic signatures of extreme weather events such as Tropical Cyclones.
