This Third Trans-Atlantic Co-operative Research Conference was again organised by the Norwegian Embassy in Washington D.C., this time in cooperation with the Bjerknes Centre (BCCR) and CICERO (Centre for International Climate and Environmental Research – Oslo). The conference was hosted by the Carnegie Institute on November 1st and attracted more than 200 people among researchers, governmental officials and politicians. Norway´s newly appointed foreign minister Jonas Gahr Støre opened the event.
The goals of the meeting were to inform political decision-makers and to build up networks with leading American research groups. Scientists had the opportunity to highlight the latest research results so as to feature more prominently in current political agendas.
