Om

I am a Researcher in Paleoceanography at the Department of Earth Science, University of Bergen and the Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research. The main motivation of my research is to understand the mechanisms behind past changes in ocean circulation and climate during the current and previous warm periods, to provide a better understanding and improve the predictions of our future climate.

To accomplish this, I work with an array of proxy methodologies including foraminiferal assemblages, stable isotopes (e.g., planktonic and benthic foraminiferal δ18O and δ13C) and elemental ratios (e.g., Mg/Ca) to reconstruct surface and deep ocean properties, ice-rafted debris counts to reconstruct ice sheet variability, sortable silt analysis to reconstruct relative changes in paleo-current flow speed; combined with tephra, oceanic 13C Suess effect and SCP analysis for improving recent marine sediment core chronologies.
