Ana Gomes

My PhD project aims at reconstructing the past functioning of the biological carbon pump (BCP) over the last 130 000 years using ancient plankton DNA. My work will involve analysing sediment samples and cores collected in the North Atlantic and Arctic Ocean to evaluate the response of the BCP to historical climate variations.
