Om
I’m a research professor at NORCE and the Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research. My main research interests are climate prediction and climate change impacts and solutions. I currently lead the EU Horizon Europe project ACACIA and the CATER schools programme, and I’m the chief scientist of the Climate Futures research centre. From 2020 to 2024, I led the EU Horizon 2020 CONFER project on climate services in East Africa.
Main research interests
• Climate dynamics
• Numerical weather modelling and dynamical downscaling
• Predictability and natural variability from intra-seasonal to multi-decadal time scales
• Mesoscale weather phenomena (such as polar lows)
• Troposphere – stratosphere interactions
• Climate change impacts on health
