Prosjekt
Response of the Earth System to overshoot, Climate neUtrality and negative Emissions (RESCUE)

The RESCUE project aims to expand our understanding of the potential role of both land- and ocean-based carbon dioxide removal (CDR) techniques in future mitigation scenarios.
To achieve the Paris Agreement's goals, it is critical to reach climate neutrality by mid-century. However, current climate policies fall short of the necessary cuts in CO2 emissions. RESCUE explores the potential role of CDR methods like bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS), afforestation/reforestation, and ocean alkalinity enhancement (OAE) in plausible future scenarios to tackle the enormous mitigation challenges that have accumulated over the past decades.

Navigating the Uncharted Territory of the Anthropocene Climate
How much carbon must be removed to prevent too much global warming? Is it possible to alter the Earth’s energy balance by managing incoming solar radiation? These are some of the questions addressed in the NAVIGATE project.

Climate Futures
Climate Futures is a Centre for Research-based Innovation (abbreviated SFI in Norwegian), funded by the Research Council of Norway. Climate Futures will co-develop better methods and practices for climate risk management by working with nearly 40 partners in a consortium.
The work in Climate Futures is organized in user-driven projects, ranging from short pilots lasting a few weeks or months to long-term strategic programmes over several years.
