Nadine Goris

About
Co-leader of the research theme Carbon System
I am a marine biogeochemical modeller with a background in mathematics. My main expertise lies in the analysis of future projections and feedback interactions in an Earth system model framework. I have been involved in numerous national and international projects investigating the impact of climate change on biogeochemical dynamics. My research focuses on model validation and process attribution of short- and long-term biogeochemical variability on regional scale, with a particular focus on the North Atlantic.

The Breathing Ocean
In O2Ocean (2022–2025) researchers from the Bjerknes Centre, NORCE, the Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center and the Institute of Marine Research, look into why climate models have underestimated the observed decline in marine oxygen levels. This is needed to improve projections of future oxygen conditions

Navigating the Uncharted Territory of the Anthropocene Climate
How much carbon must be removed to prevent too much global warming? Is it possible to alter the Earth’s energy balance by managing incoming solar radiation? These are some of the questions addressed in the NAVIGATE project.
