Fortidsklima

Forskningsgruppen  fokuserer på å rekonstruere og modellere fortidens klima, for å forstå hvordan og hvorfor klima har variert i fortiden.  I gruppen drives det forskning på hvordan havsirkulasjonen og temperaturen i havet har endret seg over tid, endringer i isdynamikk, atmosfærisk temperatur, vindfelt og breutbredelse, undersøkelser av hvilke faktorer og mekanismer som har påvirket fortidsklima, og hvilke effekt ulike drivkrefter og mekanismer har på de ulike delene av klimasystemet.

I gruppen jobbes det med land, hav, atmosfære og is. Klimavariabilitet på årlig til tusenårig tidsskala undersøkes, for ulike tidsperioder fra 60 millioner år siden og opp til i dag.
