Meeting for the Constraints on global warming subgroup

The Constraints on global warming subgroup will meet again this this Friday, 8 November, 12-13, in U1 (west wing).

Bring your lunch and join the discussion.

Elaine McDonagh will set the topic and lead the discussion on "Observing ocean temperature change: what, where and why?»:

The ocean takes up 93% of the warming in the climate system and the resulting thermosteric expansion is a primary contributor to global and regional sea level change. I will review the current observing system for ocean temperature change, and the patterns of temperature change that it reveals. In order to make these observations relevant to and useful for climate change projections we must understand the drivers of regional temperature change. I will review some of the challenges in isolating drivers of change in the observational record.

PS - the next discussion meeting will be 22 November when Nadine Goris will introduce a discussion on "Constraints on the carbon uptake of the North Atlantic (and their potential relation to climate sensitivity)"
