Understanding climate
for the benefit of society

Kjersti Birkeland Daae

I am interested in high-latitude oceanic processes. I focus on deep-water formation, water mass transformation, polar oceanic fronts, and the potential melting of Antarctica’s floating ice shelves through contact with “warm” (above freezing point) oceanic water. I explore these processes using a combination of idealized numerical models, various reanalysis products, and observations from ships, moored arrays, instrumented seals, etc.
