Pierre Rampal gets funding for a new project developing a new forecast system providing key information on ice edge location, wave heights and floe sizes to operators in the Arctic Ocean.

Geologist Nele Meckler works on reconstruction of past climate conditions. She has now received a Starting Grant from the European Research Council to build her own research group at the University of Bergen.

Close to 140,000 Europeans have died as a direct result of heat waves since the turn of the millennium. Heat waves are now regarded by the United Nations as climate-related disaster.
