Hanif Kawousi

I am a PhD candidate in the BetweenTheFjords research group and the Centre for Climate and Energy Transformation, both at the University of Bergen. In the ECOBUDGETS project, we aim to help municipalities and regional authorities make more sustainable decisions by integrating emissions-reduction and land-use-change budgets into financial and other administrative and political decision-making. My work involves validating Bayesian species distribution models through ground-truthing, with Bergen municipality serving as a pilot case. Additionally, I explore the gaps between science and decision-making, as well as between academic disciplines, and how these gaps hinder sustainable and forward-looking governance.
