BCCR X theme seminar - Southern Ocean
June's cross-theme seminar will be held next Monday (3rd June) at 14.15. The topic is “Southern Ocean”, and we will have 4 presentations:
Andreas Klocker (Global): Do ocean eddies matter for simulations of the Eocene-Oligocene transition, and can current-generation ocean models get their effect right?
Elin Darelius (Polar): Shelf break dynamics and ice shelf melt: what oceanographic moorings tells us about warm water inflow
Tomas Torsvik (Carbon, online): Southern Ocean overturning circulation and the BGC divide
Carlo Mans (Hazards): Estimates of Eddy Mixing in the Southern Ocean: A Multi-Method Approach
The seminar will take place in the Bjerknes lecture room (4th floor, room 4020), and coffee and biscuits will be served!
Seminar/WS on abrupt climate change
Dear All,
In collaboration with BCCR global and polar theams and in association with the ABRUPT project meeting taking place first week of June, we would like to invite all intrested to a seminar/WS on abrupt climate change, with a particular focus on Dansgaard-Oechger events, June 4th, in the seminar room at the 4th floor of the west wing (Jahnebakken 5 in U-4020). We plan to provide lunch.
If you are intrested, please let me know by signing up before 3 May (https://forms.office.com/e/39KQVEsrFa), and save the day. More details on how we organize the day will follow when we have an idea about the intrest.
This will be a good opertunity to get an overview of relevant activities going on within BCCR and for members of the community to meet and interact with the project participants coming to Bergen. It would also be great to get a reminder of relevant important work that has come out from our community over the last years.
Cheers,
Bjørg

Bjerknes cross-theme seminar: “Storylines and emergent constraints”
Dear all,
Another Bjerknes cross-theme seminar will be held this Tuesday / tomorrow (11th June) at 14.15. The topic is “Storylines and emergent constraints”, and we will have 3 presentations:
Priscilla Mooney (Hazards): Developing high-resolution storyline climate projections of the polar regions
Nadine Goris (Carbon): Emergent constraints and the disadvantage of using regional averages (based on examples for the North Atlantic carbon uptake)
Pragallva Barpanda (Global): Relationship between extreme wave-activity events and the mean-state in the NorESM models
The seminar will take place in the Bjerknes lecture room (4th floor, room 4020), and coffee and biscuits will be served!
