Networking? The Bjerknes Visiting Fellow program is here for you.
Aim
The visiting fellow program aims to promote cooperation in climate research with outstanding scientists and research institutions both nationally and internationally.
It is required that the visit to the Bjerknes Centre benefits others beyond the applicant.
The visiting fellow must hold at least one BCCR lecture during the stay.
Who can apply: Any member of the Bjerknes Center may apply.
Funding
The program supports travel and accommodation expenses for visits of up to 14 days during the spring term of 2026.
The BVF may not be used as part of, or to extend, a sabbatical stay.
Deadline
- Normal years the deadline is December 1st for visits during Spring term and June 1st for visits during Autumn term
- Calls for BVF will be announced by email to BCCR members in due time before the deadline
Evaluation Criteria - Spring 2026
Successful applications will be selected based on:
- Relevance for Bjerknes Community
- Visit plan
- Visit outcome
The Bjerknes Research theme leaders and representatives from partnerinstitutions evaluates the proposals.
Grant allocations will be announced 2 weeks past the deadlines.

Application guidelines
- Name of the applicant and the host institution
- Name of the visiting fellow and her/his affiliation
- Background and goals of the visit
- Tentative dates
- Budget and funding plan, daily allowances according to rules.
- The application shall not exceed 1 A4 page

During and after your visit
The visiting fellow must hold at least one public lecture during the stay.
After the visit, the applicant prepares a short report (max 1 A4 page) describing the activities and outcome(s) to be sent as an attachment to post@bjerknes.uib.no within 1 month of the guest´s departure
